General explanation of the procedure

Circumcision is a relatively minor medical procedure typically performed under local anesthesia. During the procedure, the doctor removes the foreskin around the glans, after which the wound is sutured or closed in another way. Healing usually takes one to two weeks, depending on the patient's age and the technique used.

Various methods (e.g. clamp technique, surgical)

There are several methods To perform a circumcision. At Vatan Clinic, we use two methods: the classic method and the clamp method.

With the classical method the foreskin is manually removed and sutured.

With the clamp method At Vatan Clinic, we use our own certified Genco Clamp to perform the procedure. The clamp method involves placing a ring/clamp around the portion of the foreskin that needs to be removed. This clamp compresses the skin and keeps the wound edges closed. The foreskin is then safely removed. This eliminates the need for stitches and creates an immediate, closed wound edge.

The method used for the procedure depends on the patient's personal situation.

Why is circumcision performed?

There are three main reasons why people choose circumcision: medical, religious, and personal. Medically, it helps with complaints such as a tight foreskin (phimosis), recurring infections, or hygiene problems.
